Rangers v Braga: Europa League quarter-final second leg – live! | Europa League

90+1 mins Five minutes of additional time.

90 minutes Leon Balogun replaces a tired Borna Barisic, who had an exceptional game. Calvin Bassey will move to left-back.

4:47 p.m.

88 minutes It’s in tatters now. Rangers are desperate to complete this before extra time.

4:44 p.m.

86 minutes Rangers had 64 per cent possession and 20 shots against Braga’s four. They also had three goals disallowed. But for now, it counts for now and the draw goes to extra time.

4:43 p.m.

85 minutes Roofe is booked for a late challenge on Matheus, who takes more hits than Tom Reagan.

Braga won a corner from the right, perhaps their first of the game. Medeiros rolled it flat and hard towards the near post, where Carmo got in front of Roofe and headed a superb header into the far corner.

GOAL! Rangers 2-1 Braga (agg: 2-2; Carmo 83)

I do not believe that. Braga is tied!

82 minutes Kamara blocks a long range shot from Ricardo Horta.

4:40 p.m.

81 minutes Matheus is still under treatment. He stopped Ramsey’s shot on the line and the momentum of the two players led to a collision, Ramsey’s knee against Matheus’ head. But he’s up now and looks set to continue.

80 minutes As Matheus receives treatment, Rangers make a double change – Ryan Jack and Aaron Ramsey are replaced by Glen Kamara and Scott Wright.

79 mins: Another Rangers goal is disallowed! Matheus is down holding his face after a challenge from a sorry Ramsey, although I believe the goal was disallowed for offside.

78 minutes Ramsey slaloms past two players at the edge of the D and is taken down. The referee does not see the trip and the waves continue to play.

4:33 p.m.

75 minutes Fabiano runs over a bouncing ball, 30 yards away, and transfers it to a different zip code.

4:32 p.m.

74 minutes For all their dominance – and it was totally one-sided – Rangers are only one goal clear in the draw.

73 minutes Goldson is down after a clash of heads with Vitor Oliveira. The Rangers players weren’t happy, but although Oliveira pounced on Goldson, he seemed to only have eyes for the ball. Eventually, Goldson stands up and accepts Oliveira’s apology.

WITHOUT ANY GOAL! Roofe was indeed offside.

70 min: Roofe has another goal disallowed! This time it’s for offside, although it will be checked. He ran over Aribo’s superb flick and gently lobbed the ball over Matheus. The offside looks very tight, so it could still be awarded.

69 minutes Rangers are still pushing for a third goal. The free kick from the right of Barisic is directed by Aribo, but the referee gives a corner. Tavernier’s delivery goes to the near post. Ramsey recovers the loose ball, plays a one-two with Lundstram and shoots into the side netting from a prohibitive angle. After a bad start, he played pretty well, even if he took the wrong option there.

67 minutes As it stands, the Europa League semi-finals will be:

  • RB Leipzig v Rangers
  • West Ham v Eintracht Frankfurt

65 minutes Another magnificent cross from Barisic is led at the near post by diver Ramsey. It was half a chance at best.

63 minutes Tavernier’s free-kick leads Goldson to smash a shot past the post, although that wouldn’t have counted as there was an offside in the build-up.

63 minutes The impressive Bassey charges forward and is flattened by Paulo Oliveira. Rangers free kick on the left wing…

61 minutes Two other changes for Braga: Abel Ruiz and Rodrigo Gomes are replaced by Vitor Oliveira and Iuri Medeiros.

60 minutes Tavernier’s very deep cross is brilliantly controlled by Kent, who loses Fabiano and teases a cross to Roofe. His head is stuck in the penalty area.

58 minutes Quiet period in the game. Braga are no slouch – in fact, they probably played better with 10 men than with 11.

54 minutes Kent beats Fabiano with contemptuous ease and sets a cross too high for Ramsey, arriving late in the box.

54 minutes I SAID MEANWHILE!

53 minutes Ramsey sends a fine pass to Barisic, whose cross is headed bravely by Carmo. The ball is recovered by Lundstram, who passes to 20 meters.

50 minutes Rangers break and Aribo curves from inside the D. He had Kent in all sorts of spaces to his left.

50 minutes Moura charges to the edge of the area before being well tackled by Goldson. Although there are only 10 men left, Braga made quite a spirited start to the second half.

46 minutes Roofe almost gets another chance after 15 seconds into the second half, but he takes an extra touch and is eventually ousted. He’s been a threat all night.

46 minutes Peeppeep! Braga start the second half after making a half-time substitution: Francisco Moura replaces Andre Horta.

“Don’t watch the game, just track your MBM,” says David Correia. “Would the push have justified a red outside the box? Otherwise, I think the rule is that there should have been a yellow and a penalty and not a red card.

I might be wrong because the rules change every other day but I’m pretty sure if the defender doesn’t try to play the ball what Tormena didn’t do is a penalty and a red card (if it’s a clear goal opportunity).

The BT Sports team suggest that Roofe’s goal was disallowed for what was seen as a deliberate handball by Barisic, and that the goal should/should have stood had it been accidental, which it was. “If it’s deliberate, he should be in the circus!” says Ally McCoist.

3:49 p.m.

Half: Rangers 2-0 Braga (agg: 2-1)

Peeppeep! A near-perfect first half for Rangers, who put in a stunning performance to overwhelm Braga. James Tavernier scored both goals and Braga are down to ten men after Vitor Tormena was sent off. Rangers are awfully close to their first European semi-final since 2008.

3:46 p.m.

45 minutes It’s Tavernier’s second goal of the night, his 14th of the season and his sixth in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

3:44 p.m.

GOAL! Rangers 2-0 Braga (agg: 2-1; Tavernier 44 pen)

James Tavernier does a bit of meditation, advances and wraps the penalty directly in the middle! Rangers are ahead in the draw, and they are a man too.

3:43 p.m.

It’s the right decision I think. Roofe ran on a long ball forward and found himself on the wrong end of Tormena, who panicked and stuck an elbow in his back. ‘Cause he wasn’t trying to play the ball, it’s a penalty and a red card.

3:42 p.m.

Tormena pushes Roofe into the area and it’s a penalty for Rangers. And – oh my days – Tormena was kicked out too!

3:41 p.m.

41 minutes Rangers have been so dominant and could easily be two or three up front. If they don’t qualify tonight, they will regret not putting Braga out in the first half.

3:40 p.m.

39 minutes I SAID MEANWHILE.

38 minutes And now Ramsey’s floating cross is heading too close to Matheus by Kent. The Rangers are tough right now.

37 minutes Roofe recovers a stray ball 25 yards from goal but drags away from the far post with his left foot.

3:37 p.m.

37 minutes MEANWHILE.

36 minutes Tavernier’s corner is directed towards the goal by Aribo and narrowly escapes Roofe at the far post.

35 minutes Rangers’ pace has been tremendous and Braga are struggling to deal with it. Kent wins another corner on the left, only to be picked up by Tavernier…

32 mins: Roofe hits the bar! How did it stay? Tavernier’s corner from the left was headed towards goal and landed the side foot on the underside of the bar by Roofe, four yards from goal. He bounced a little awkwardly off Roofe, but it was a glorious chance.

3:32 p.m.

31 minutes Ramsey sends a nice pass to Aribo, who controls it perfectly before blocking a shot. He ricochets off Aribo, who has another blocked shot.

3:30 p.m.

30 minutes The resulting corner, taken by Barisic, is superbly claimed by Matheus.

29 minutes Tavernier’s cross to Roofe is headed by Oliveira, diving towards his own goal. Very good defense.

27 minutes Kent sprays a superb cross pass to Ramsey, but he goes past the cross. Ramsey didn’t start particularly well.
